The whole way...................

Rudi & Sabine arrived at Rock Farm yesterday. They are riding and cycling the whole of the South Pennines to Derbyshire section of the Pennine Bridleway. They stared their ride on Friday when they were dropped off on the Mary Towneley Loop. They "looped the loop" staying at two farms along the route before setting off south down the Pennine Bridleway, stopping at Diggle then here at Rock Farm, near Glossop. Today they are riding to Rushop Hall where they plan to have a rest day before riding on to end their journey near Ashbourne. A real riding adventure of over 120 miles.

Charity ride

Janis Ashworth and 5 friends started their 40 mile ride and walk along the Pennine Bridleway on 19th May. They hope to raise money for the Ray of Hope Appeal which aims to raise £650,000 to provide Image Guided Radiotherapy facilities (IGRT) at the Rosemere Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital. IGRT allows radiotherapy staff to take CT quality scans during each treatment session, which means fewer side effects caused by damage to healthy tissue; greater accuracy enabling higher doses of radiation; and a reduction in the trauma and stress caused by treatment being halted temporarily whilst repeat scans are taken. It will benefit more than 2000 patients each year across Lancashire and South Cumbria, in particular those being treated for prostate, lung and bladder cancer. Members of her group have personal or family connections with the Rosemere Cancer Centre and this is their way of giving something in return for the treatment, care and support they have received. If anyone would like to sponsor them, they would really appreciate this.
